Tropics heating up; potential risk to southeastern U.S. coast
Quick update on the tropics; things are starting to heat up, with the National Hurricane Center watching four separate tropical waves, but only one of which has a greater than 50% chance of development at the moment.
It’s the system highlighted in red that is going to pose a threat to the Caribbean Islands and then potentially the southeast U.S. coast or the eastern Gulf coast middle to late next week. It will have to battle some unfavorable upper level winds and drier air at times, but there’s enough support among global forecast models for gradual strengthening that folks along the southeast coast and the eastern Gulf will want to keep tabs on this system.
Meanwhile, back home, just more of the same: mostly sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 80s/low 90s, minimal chances for showers and storms. Still looks like a brief and slight cool-down will head our way for Friday and Saturday but unfortunately no rain with this front.
